The Diary Of Anne Frank
The story of Anne Frank, and the people she shared a home with in The Secret Annex in Amsterdam from 1942-1944 has been told in more than sixty languages for over sixty years, as well as brought to many stages around the world. The story of a young girl whose world is turned upside down by the invasion of the Nazi regime is unfortunately not unique, but what sets Anne’s journey apart is her incredible hope in humanity and faith that better days will come. While living in stressful and crowded quarters, there were still parts of Anne that she preferred to keep private. That introspective side of Anne was shared with her diary, “Kitty.”
In 1947, her father, Otto Frank, along with Miep Gies, published the diary that gave the world insight on what was going on in this profound person’s mind and life in Anne’s memory. Her journey that explains what it was truly like to live in hiding, to be on the receiving end of Anti-Semitism and bigotry, and how in such times of turmoil she could find ways to find comfort in her writing, her family, and her beloved chestnut tree outside the attic window.
